Assalam o Alaiykum, I have Alopecia and may hair falling out in small patches. I have been told this condition develops when immune system attacks the hair follicles and resulting in hair loss. Can anyone please help me understand this condition better and is this disease treatable or not. I have heard we can stop this by using ginger water and onion water but i need a permanent solution. please book a consultation . alopecia areta happens because of immune system turning against it's own hair roots. it can be slowed through various medicines and procedures. but the result varies with person to person.

Ur understanding of the disease is right. Its ur immune system thts causing it. For treatment there are ample options. But tht needs a proper examination n detailed history.

You have been told correctly that for unknown reasons immune system over reacts and attacks hair follicles and thus one lose hair. This condition runs in the families and is also associated with certain other disorders of immune response.

In a very great majority of patients hair grows back with appropriate medicines and sometimes even without medicines. But this tends to come back again. There are no permanent solution for this. Since stress plays a very important part in this, so if you get out of the stress it may never happen again.

Regards
