Talk to Dermatologist on Blisters On Arms

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 41 years old, NJ

I have these small blisters on both of my arms. 2 on each arm. Here is some background.

1- I developed a fungal infection in the fingers of my right foot and had a blister that itched for a day and ruptured. 2- The next day, a new blister developed on the next foot finger, which is healing (getting smaller). I am applying an over-the-counter antifungal cream on that. 3- In the meantime, I developed these blisters on my arms. These itch but do not hurt. I am applying Calamine lotion on these. 4- It has been 4 days now. The number of blisters were 4 on day 1, and no further blisters have developed. Only their size grew in the first 2 days, and then they stopped getting bigger. 5- I am posting pictures of Day 1 and Day 4. 6- No fever, cough, or any other related symptoms since day 1. 7- I have added the photos from Day 1 and Day 4.

Kindly advise what should be done for these.

New Jersey, USA.

I am rewriting the whole situation with some updates.

I am a 41-year-old male. Height is 5 ft 10 in. Weight is 147 lb. Non-smoker and currently not taking any medicine.

I have 2 water-filled blisters on each arm. These appeared 4 days ago. Here are some details that I think are worth sharing.

I had some fungus on the finger of my right foot that developed water-filled blisters. The blister ruptured, and I am applying antifungal cream on that it is getting better.
The next day, I noticed these 4 blisters on my arms.
Day 1: Pic Attached
Day 4: Pic Attached
I do not have any other symptoms like fever, cough, or fatigue. Also, the number of blisters was 4, and no new blisters have appeared after that. However, all the blisters have grown slightly in size over the past 4 days.
I am applying calamine lotion on these every day.
This evening (Day 4), it looks like there are two more blisters on the way. Initially, all others looked like that, and after a day or so, they got filled with the liquid.

Latest Pic Attached

The one on top is the existing one that ruptured a little by mistake today, and two bumps below it are itching, and I think I had a similar condition before the blister appeared.

Any advice on this will be much appreciated.

Dr Danish,

I have no symptoms that will make us believe that this is chickenpox. I had chickenpox when I was 22. There are a few blisters on the arms that have appeared after the fungus on the foot. These don't hurt.

Could this be Interface Dermatitis (ID) Reaction in response to the foot fungus?

It could be id reaction or disseminated reaction to some infection at some other site. I don’t know if u self diagnosed your foot issue as fungal infection or some dermatologist suggested so. Usually the cause of such reaction is some primary infection at some distant site such as foot. The treatment of the arm lesions is usually symptomatic such as anti histamine for itching plus/minus topical treatment. But the priority should be to treat the primary infection. It could also be due to insect bite or some allergic reaction.

Thank you so much, Dr. Asma, for your response. That is logical and correlates with the situation.

The fungal infection is self-diagnosed. I am using Clotrimazole USP 1% on my foot, and the foot is getting better. I am attaching a picture of the site, and I would appreciate it if you could evaluate it.

Also, today I have started applying Hydrocortisone 1% on these blisters.

These are the over-the-counter available creams here. Do you think that is a fair treatment for them, or should I go see a dermatologist?

I do not see any picture. For foot clotrimazole is fine. Mild infection can be treated with topical products but extensive or non responsive infection may need oral meds prescribed by dermatologist. If u have itching/inflammation on vesicles or blisters then hydrocortisone would help other wise both. Avoid puncturing the blister. Keep the area clean once the blister is ruptured to prevent secondary infection.
