Talk to Dermatologist on Dark Patch In Armpit For The Past Year — What Could Be The Cause?

I have had a dark/brownish patch in my armpit for about one year. It has remained there for a long time. There is no significant pain, swelling, or discharge. I do not use deodorants. I would like to know whether this could be due to pigmentation, friction, shaving, or another skin condition. Does it require any treatment? I have attached a recent photo for reference. Please advise.
