Talk to Dermatologist on Fucidic Acid Cream On Open Wound

Dear Doctors,
I have gone through a pilonidle sinus surgery 2 weeks ago and doctor recommended to keep the wound open with dressing to be done after alternate days. After 2 weeks he told me there is infection and gave me Fucidic Acid cream to apply on wound after cleaning it by sitting in warm and salty water for 10 minutes. This to be done thrice in a day.
Please advise me why doctor moved from dressing to this cream treatment and is it harmful for my wound to sit in salty water?

Dear patient, you need to stick with that surgen who did the surgery. Some time when wound leave it open not put the dressing it will heal better. You need to protect from environmental inoculate, dust and other particles.
The treating doctor is the best person to prescribe you any medicine. This is because he has actually seen your lesion.
