Talk to Dermatologist on Genital Warts Problem

I first noticed symptoms of what I thought might be genital warts or skin tags in November 2025. When I visited a gynecologist, she told me not to worry and said that such skin growths can occur due to sexual activity.

During 2026, I noticed that they gradually increased in both number and size. At present, there are more than seven of these growths on my vulvar/vaginal area. I asked my husband whether he had anything similar, and at that time he said he did not. We have a long-distance relationship, and for the past six months we have not had any sexual contact. We are also careful about personal hygiene.

Recently, however, my husband developed similar growths and believes they are genital warts. I want to know whether these are actually genital warts or skin tags.

Initially, each growth appears dark gray, and later it becomes skin-colored as it grows. They cause difficulty during hair removal. When I use a razor, they are easily cut, and if I wax, they sometimes tear because they are located beside the hair follicles. They do not hurt or bleed on their own, but they do bleed if they are accidentally cut while shaving or waxing.

When the first one appeared, I experienced some itching, and the gynecologist told me it was related to sexual activity. After that, the itching was no longer noticeable.

My husband is the only person with whom I have ever had a sexual relationship. When I informed him about these growths, he later noticed similar lesions on himself that were not present before. He advised me to consult a dermatologist.
