There are several ways to treat head lice in a 1 year old child. One common method is to use over-the-counter medicated shampoos, such as permethrin (Nix) or pyrethrin (RID). These shampoos are applied to the hair and scalp, left on for a certain amount of time, and then washed out. It is important to follow the instructions on the packaging carefully, as these products can be toxic if not used properly.
Another option is using dimethicone lotion.
It is also important to comb through the hair with a fine-toothed comb to remove any dead lice and nits (lice eggs). This should be done after each treatment and for several days afterward to ensure all lice are removed. Repeat the treatment after 7 days.
It is also important to clean the surrounding environment, clothing, bedding, and personal items that may have come into contact with lice.
It's also recommended to avoid sharing personal items like combs, brushes and hats.
It's also better to avoid the maid for a few days to avoid re-infestation.
