Asking for Self, Male, 20 years old, Karachi
Hi, Im a 20 years old male. I have been facing hairfall since 3-4 years now. Two years ago l went to a dermatologist who told me to take minoxidil, but I never started it as I didn't wanted to be dependent on minoxidil forever. A year and a half ago I went to an endocrinologist with my Total testosterone lab test results. Testosterone levels were around 900ng/dl which was in the upper limit, but my DHT levels were very high (882pg/ml). The endocrinologist I showed the report to gave me finasteride to control my DHT levels, but he mentioned to take it for 3 months and if my hairfall doesn't stop in these months then stop taking the tablets. I never stopped taking the tablets because I always knew about finasteride and also knew that you have to take it daily in order to lower your DHT levels and stop the hairfall, otherwise your hair starts shedding again. Now it's been 1.5 years since Im taking the tablets. Even though they did work for a year but since 4-5 months my hair has been continuously shedding again. Now Im in serious doubt of whether I should take the tablets or not. And I don't know my next step to stop the hairfall. For my medical history, I have 'Cold Urticaria' which is also a dermatologist issue. I have this since a year. I also have diabetes in my family but there is not male pattern baldness in my family.
