person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 22 years old, Karachi

Had Ischiorectal abscess. Took Augmentin for two days and the abscess burst on its own. Now almost 18 hours have passed and the discharge is still leaking. Clean the area with pyodine and also taking Augmentin twice a day. How to take care of this wound? And for how many days should I continue to take augmentin?? For how many days is it normal for puss/blood to oozze out from this abscess??

You should continue taking augmentin in maximum full dose for atleast 7 days depending upon your response. Discharge won't clear in just 2 days. It settles gradually with antibiotics and sometimes painkillers/ anti inflammatory medicines. If not settled visit a consultant surgeon

Preferably you should visit a general surgeon to rule out Pilonidal sinus and evaluation of anal fissure!
