Asking for Father, Male, 72 years old, Rawalpindi
Aoa . My fathers thumb nail of right foot is getting detached from the skin of the thumb from only left side . it is since more than a year and its not painful . but the new nail coming is also rotten . its not healing . i m attaching the pictures of both feet thumb nails so that u can see if the problem is starting in the other thumb too . please suggest what should be done to heal this problem . jazakallah.

What were you waiting for for the last one year. This is fungal infection. Because of his old age anti-fungal oral medicine cannot be prescribed to him. Just anti-fungal lotion has to be instilled thrice daily for at least 18months. On top of that he must not wet his feet except for bathing. After bath the toe nail must be thoroughly dried with tissue paper and not left to dry in the air.
You must consult a Dermatologist near you to prescribe you an appropriate anti-fungal lotion.
