Hi.. I had cystic acne and got treatment from a dermatologist after which my face has cleared up. Just topical cream I use now as prescribed I retin A once a week. I am very satisfied with my skin from what it looked before. But there are pores/scars (cannot distinguish) on my cheeks even though I don't have oil anymore due to treatment and retin A.. How can I shrink them without any sort of procedure? How about using 'The Ordinary' niacinamide and zinc 1% as serum. I have heard alot about it but no so sure whether it can be used with current skincare. My current regime is: Wash off face wash Physiogel daily moisturizer Retin A 0.05% once a week at night. Would appreciate if you guys can have your views on the same. JazakaAllah
I wouldnt suggest your to use the niacinamide solution as it might give you a breakout.
stick to the retinoid cream you're using. that will help reduce the pores.
otherwise you can get one of the following noninvasive procedures done which help reduce scars and open pores tremendously
📌microdermabrasion
📌chemical peels
📌microneedling
📌nonablative laser
📌CO2 fractional laser

Your pics have so much light reflection nothing can be seen. But what I read from your narration, you have scars on your face. Unfortunately there are no medicines that can treat scars. Their reduction/elimination requires some form of treatment procedure. For example Chemical Skin Peeling, Microdermabasion, PRP, Microneedling, and now the newest one Plasma Fibroblasting. Fillers may be used as well but their effects are not long lasting. In my opinion you must visit my clinic once the viral lockdown is over. Let me examine your face and advise you which treatment would be best for you.
Unfortunately, the picture that you have attached is not very clear. One cannot comment on pictures tbh, thats why office visit is mandatory so we can give u a customsied reliable plan according to ur problem and expectations. Your history however suggests that u might be suffering from textural post acne scarring, which mandates the help of certain procedures like microneedling with or without prp, chemical peeling, use of certain lasers, microneedling rf etc. Open pores however is not a bad thing. Everyone has pores and they are meant to be open to regulate oil production to prevent ur skin from drying out. Excess oil production may sometimes give one an appearance of larger pores but they can be improved with products like the one that u r using ie. Retinoids. I would suggest u can go for home peels for now (after test patch) once a week; u can use niancinamide based moisturiser to help with oil regulation and shrinking the porea, or if not u can go for niancinamide and zinc to be used sparingly in the beginning like twice weekly so as not to make u purge. U will still benefit from microneedling and prp or mesotherapy to hydrate and plump up ur skin that will give an illusion of shrunken pores. Hope this helps
