Talk to Endocrinologist on Elevated Prolactin

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female, 24 Years old, khi

I’ve had elevated prolactin since 2015, initially i was given dopergin for it and kept taking it for 3,4 months then i changed i doctor and she gave brotin and i took that for almost 2 years. It would come in the normal range while taking medications but then would rise up when I’d stop taking medicines. In 2018 my dr had stopped my medicines and she would monitor only the monomeric ranges and they were within the normal so she told me that it’s an inactive form and it’s not causing any problem so we won’t be treating it and so the treatment stopped. I also have pcos since 2016 and now I’ve got married and wanted to conceive so my new dr again wanted to check prolactin and this time it’s also elevated and even elevated in monomeric range. The last test report showed 36.70 but it was normal in the monomeric and this time after 2 years it showed 36.20 slightly lower than that but this time it’s high in monomeric. I’m confused, can any good endocrinologist pls help?

What about your periods. Are they normal? And are you taking any medications for PCOS?

U can resume taking Glucophage and see if ur periods normalize. we should check for signs of insulin resistance and get ur fasting glucose and fasting insulin levels. and kindly consult your endocrinologist.
