Asking for Sister, Female, 30 years old, Islamabad
My sister had been diagnosed goiter in childhood and was prescribed lugols iodine solution 6 drops for 6 months and she was fine after that. Now from 25 years of her age she gets this issue on and off like throat swells a bit and if she eats raw cabbage this make its worse. But overall she is fine no extra hair shedding no weight issues, just some dark circles dur to allergy issues
Is it treatable? How to find lugols iodine drops now?
Needs to check thyroid function tests
What I would recommend first
Because she has a history of goiter and now gets intermittent throat/neck swelling, she should have:
TSH
Anti-TPO antibody (to assess Hashimoto's)
Thyroid ultrasound — particularly important because the swelling has recurred over many years
