Asking for Someone Else, Brother, Male, 29 years old, Lahore
Following the doctor's advice, the patient was given oral feeding, but the food came back out through the tracheostomy tube. Is liquid feeding by mouth possible when a tracheostomy tube is in place? If it is possible, what is the procedure?
If the food is coming from tracheostomy tube it means food is going to patient's lungs. It is better in that case to first get them checked with the doctor and then get a nasogastric tube passed so that food doesn't go to lungs.
Usually it is okay in an awake and well oriented patient to take oral food if they're on tracheostomy. There's some issue that's why it is coming out from tracheostomy.
