Asking For Self, Male, 63 Years old, Islamabad
I need a recommendation about my health issue.I got diganosed esophagus diverticulum 6 months ago in UK.Here doctor treat it under ENT department.I came back to Pakistan to get my treatment done I have a question do I need to contact any Gastroentologist or ENT surgeon??As UK's doctors told me only solution is surgery in my case.
Gestroentology
consult your doctor, this is a surgical case
Oesophageal diverticulum is pouch like extra pouch on side usually in upper quarter of oesophagus & surgery done resection from it’s attachment and then repair of wall of oesophagus, ENT & Thoracic surgeon both at times previously but now fibre optics resection in certain places done by ENT surgeons
very few ENT SURGEONS DO THIS HOWEVER IT IS ALSO DONE BY SOME GOOD GESTROENTROLOGIST ENDOSCOPICQLLY
Depending upon the location and size, surgical approach varies. If its the upper end of oesophagus, it's dealt by ENT Surgeon, endoscopically if small and through a neck incision if the diverticulum is bigger. Gastroenterologist or Thoracic surgeon will deal with diverticulum in mid or lower oesophagus.
