Well ,if some one who is more than 50 years and has constipation then should be evaluated completely by the gastroenterologist.As Dr dawar mentioned if weight loss no blood in stools and no vomiting then laxative can be tried as written by him .Failing respond to medication should lead to visit to gastroenterologists .Thanks
