Talk to Gastroenterologist on Folic Acid Supplement In Cirrhosis

person-avatar

Asking for Mother, Female, 57 years old, Lahore

My mother has compensated cirrhosis due to Hep. C where the treatment with Viktana + Ribavirin recently ended to undetectable HCV RNA. One of her doctors suggested her to take folic acid supplement while another one recommends not to take it. After stopping the supplement she does not feel hungry and also has stomach issues. What is the general consensus about folic acid in cirrhosis, should it be avoided altogether or can there be cases where it is okay to take it? Thanks a bunch.
