My brother, Islamabad
my brother’s platelets are low they usually stay low from years now a dr suggested to do a h.pylori test which was 150 after medication his platelets are 91,000 his other test and ultrasound are ok just a fatty liver grade I wbc and rbc n hb are in normal range too is it something concerning dr is asking to go for a bone marrow test but is it really necessary or should we go for any other dr
hpylori is one of the cause of low platelets
viral infection too
first rule out cause of low plts
because Bone marow biopsy is invasive and painful procedure
dear
what\'s age of your brother
and does he suffer from any kind of bleed
,if no then no need to do any thing. just follow up with CBC off and on
peripheral blood film is necessary to confirm low platelets
give folic acid supplements and b12 supplements
most likely it\'s itp .
need more information to confirm .
first of all peripheral smear review is important to rule out platelets in clumps, viral infection, malaria..
other tests can be done for low platelets are HBSAg, anti HCV, TSH , ANA profile, stool for H.pylori antigen
You need certain basic tests like Peripheral smear & Immature platelet fraction (IPF). Please consult any doctor for palpation of abdomen so that size of spleen be assessed. Then one can decide further steps
online appointment homeopathic treatment
despite of bone marrow test go for IPF test and then send the report to me for further openion
