Cellulitis is infection of skin and underlying tissues. Mostly is is caused by bacteria. Antibiotics kill bacteria and heal cellulitis. Sometimes patients don't respond to certain antibiotics. Then we should change the antibiotics. There are few options to treat cellulitis. Best antibiotics are flucloxacillin, benzyl penicillin and clindamycin. Augmentin or co amoxiclav can also be given. So just check with doctor which antibiotic she is given. Usually it should heal within 10-14 days. Should not take months unless infection is more deeper involving bone. So check with your doctor and ask for these details. Thanks

Moreover it is not dangerous unless it involves bones. If it involves bones it can cause infection in blood which we call sepsis. That can be dangerous.

I can understand your agony, I would like to answer boht the questions one by one and would like to suggest younfir other important steps to be taken;
1. Although I am not completely aware of the clinical condition and tests being done of your wife but recommending antibiotics for a month or two is usually not recommended especially if it’s simple cellulitis, if cellulitis has not improved over this period of time then it needs some surgical(cleaning of wound etc) as well. So we need to question the diagnosis of cellulitis at the very first hand.
2. Whether it is dangerous or not so yes it can be dangerous if not treated properly. Cellulitis is an infection of soft tissue of our body like infection in any part of the body. It needs proper treatment with antiobiotics, May be drainage sometimes by putting a small cut and cleaning it.
May I please know that what investigations/tests have you done so far and how she was diagnosed with cellulitis. If you are comfortable sharing the pics of her arm having cellulitis or any other test. You can also fwd them on my number zero three three three five five eight two eight nine two
May she get well soon
