Asking for Self, Male, 35 years old, Karachi
2 months ago i sneezed quite hard for couple of times and maybe due to that caused a muscle strain on the lower left ribs. At first the pain felt on the lower front left side of the rib then it travelled to the back rib, finally fading away in a weeks time. I started weight training 2 weeks ago after a gap of around a year. During the exercises especially the bench press or the ones that target the chest, the same rib pain at the same exact spot has returned with the same intensity as the first day of sneezing, but this time the pain is on front left rib and back rib Both. Its like a stabbing/pinching pain and it gets worse if i keep training my chest. Once i stop, the pain goes away and i dont feel it when not working out. I can only slightly feel it when im stretching myself. The pain comes back everytime im training especially my chest. When i touch my ribs they dont feel sore they only hurt when im putting a strain on my chest.
Overall my health condition is good with
Its more likely a sprain of muscular wall , is slow to heal and recurrent . Avoid the activity which activates the same pain ..... take some anti inflammatory to decrease irritation for 2 weeks .
It might be a muscular problem but confirmed diagnose from your history
