Stroke improves on its own with medication. Early revascularization therapies are very expensive and not available in most parts of our country. At 80 years of age Thrombolysis would probably be not recommended as well depending upon extent of weakness. Physio and regular medication are the only solution now.

It depends whether the artery burst or was blocked by clot . If patient gets to hospital within One to two hours after stroke . The stroke can be reversed by medicine if artery was blocked. There is no medicine that will work if stroke is more than 6 hours old . Medicines prescribed long term after stroke are to prevent another stroke in future since such patient is at risk of another stroke in coming months
