Hello doctor, I have been taking Lipiget (Atorvastatin) 40 mg and recently developed severe pain in my hands and feet that worsens with even light movement. I also have a known vitamin D deficiency. My liver enzymes were checked 2 weeks ago (GGT 57, others normal) and my kidney function was normal 2 weeks ago.
I would like your advice on:
Whether I should pause Lipiget due to this pain.
If I should get a Creatine Kinase (CK) test to check for statin-related muscle injury.
How to safely manage my vitamin D deficiency alongside this situation.
Please advise the next steps.

First thing to know is why you are taking Lipiget? Secondly yes you may hold Lipiget for now and see if your symptoms improve. If they improve then that would mean that your symptoms were related to this medicine. If there was some strong indication for starting Lipiget then later on you should switch to some alternative and not restart Lipiget. You may get CK to document muscular inflammation. For vitamin D you may use 50000 IU Capsule once a week for 6 weeks and then recheck your levels. Get sunlight exposure and improve your diet. Lastly it would be best for you to consult a medical specialist for detailed evaluation.
stop lipiget
Yes , you get your Lipid profile checked and it is in normal limits, stop lipiget. Also try taking movax and other analgesics in the meantime, together with Vit D supplements.
