person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 22 years old, Rawalpindi

Aoa Dear Doctors, Hope you are doing well. I am young, 22 yrs old boy. I got ankle sprain 3 months ago by a small jump. It only pains when putting the load (walking). I have MRI report attached showing the present condition of ankle joint... It indicates cartilage problem maybe... Some Doctors are recommending procedures and surgery and some told to have complete 100 percent bed rest for 4 to 7 weeks and it will recover automatically. Need the advice please.

Thanks in advance ?

Thank you. You have already tried 3 months of non operative management. You didn't mention what did you do in the last 3 months? No weight bearing on the injured foot? Anyway lesion is 1 cm and injured part is in its position, so no harm in waiting for 6 weeks and no weight bearing during this period and than repeat the MRI. Surgery can be done after 6 weeks if the lesion doesn't heal. Hope for the best Inshallah. Regards
