My child underwent sub coronal hypospadias repair on 05 March, 2025. On follow up checkup the dressing was removed. the glans of penis was totally black and shape is not looking Ok. This complication is looking very serious and worrisome for me as the surgeon was unable to guide me further except suggesting sitz baths. What should be done or where to get specialize treatment for this.
Show me the child immediately. He may need immediate surgical intervention.
Already time passed a lot. To save gland immediately release incision may needex
multiple factors can cause this complication after hypospadias repair , vessel injury is main.
other may be vascular spasm or very tight first dressing.

Seems like blood clot… cannt comment exect what happened there, but if its a gangrene glans it might be due to tight stiches, so may need to remove those stitches first, although 15 days already passed if there is gangrene then glans might lost so need consultation from another plastic or peads surgeon
very unfortunate complication !
the moment it was identified hyperbaric oxygen and pentoxypylline should had been advised.
for now maintain good hygiene, antiseptic measures and follow up with a good Pediatric Surgeon.
will need reconstructive surgery in future.
It is a rare complication of the surgery that occur due to loss to blood supply to the glans
It needs to be followed up clinically by expert paediatric and plastic surgery specialists
