it's been 3 weeks that I have quit cigarettes. after quitting the cigarette, I am suffering from continuous cough, chest tightness, congestion, and thick phlegm coming. took caricef 400mg twice a day for 5 days along with acefyle cough cerup, but the condition is same. please advise
don't worry, it's normal phenomenon...
Get nebulization with Atem 2cc plus normal saline 2cc three times a day.
Get a chest xray
And visit nearby Pulmonologist when available. Meanwhile you will feel better with nebulization.

Cough is due to bronchoconstrictriction which previously was relieved by smoking. Now that you have quit smoking you will temporarily need bronchodilators which will be weaned off gradually. A chronic smoker will be having phlegm from the beginning. If its bothering you alot use expectorant (hydraline syp) 2Tbsp three times a day. Dont use antibiotics like bunties. And go to near by hospital for cxr , abgs , sputum culture and examination. And some nebulization.
It’s doesn’t seems due to quitting cigarette but due to narrowing of airways .. U needs nebulization and inhaler after examination from qualified Pulmonologist
its completely treatable after taking some medicine don't your worry detailed history required kindly book appointment with me it's a permanent treatment not temporary
