my father had an operation of hip joint fracture after that he is unable to do urine by its own in urine pot but he use catheter for urine by using xylocaine gel

When the surgery was done.
Immediately after surgery and in this age group particularly because of regular pain killer patient doesn't feel fullness in urine bladder. If surgery was done few weeks or month ago and still problem is there , may consult Urologist to rule out Prostate issues.
