Asking For Self, Male, 27 Years old, United Kingdom
Hi doctors, around one year ago I first found out about a heart valve problem/leakage and since then I’ve had symptoms including palpitations, shortness of breath, head heaviness, weakness, anxiety, fatigue and poor sleep. I recently had coronary angiography and doctors said my heart arteries are normal with no blockage, but I have now been referred to the cardiothoracic surgery team because of severe valve leakage and another narrowing issue.
Echo 27/03/2026:
Severely dilated left ventricle with normal systolic function (LVEF ~55%)
Normal sized right heart with normal systolic function
Severe aortic regurgitation caused by valve prolapse
Severe mitral regurgitation secondary to rheumatic mitral leaflets
I wanted to ask what usually happens next before surgery, what precautions/recovery expectations are common, and how serious this stage normally is. Any professional advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.now im stable on medication.
