A cough is a term used for a sudden, repetitive but protective reflex which helps to clear the whole breathing passages from unhealthy fluids, irritants, foreign particles, and disease-causing microbes. When something causes irritation in the throat and body response in the shape of a cough. A cough is the natural response of the body against any irritating agent in the throat. This irritant agent sends a message to the brain through nerve cells. Brain send a message to the muscles of the abdomen and lungs to push the air out of the body to force out the irritant out of the body. In a normal cough is the sign of a healthy body. But if a cough persists for a longer period of the time this is the sign of the something wrong in the body. If the body releases blood with mucus, this is a serious condition and needs medical attention. Prolonged coughing cause sleeplessness, headache, urinary incontinence, and sometimes broken ribs.
