For acne on combination skin, a tailored skincare routine is essential. Combination skin means you have both oily areas (typically the T-zone: forehead, nose, chin) and dry or normal areas on your cheeks.

Start with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser twice daily to remove excess oil and dirt without over-drying your skin. Look for ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help reduce acne-causing bacteria and unclog pores. Use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to hydrate dry areas without exacerbating oiliness.

Incorporate a topical treatment containing either benzoyl peroxide (2.5-5%) or salicylic acid (1-2%) to target pimples directly. Apply only to affected areas to avoid drying out your normal skin. Avoid heavy, pore-clogging makeup and always remove it thoroughly.

Sun protection is crucial as some acne treatments increase photosensitivity. Use a broad-spectrum, non-comedogenic sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily.

If your acne is moderate to severe or not responding to over-the-counter remedies after 6-8 weeks, consult a dermatologist for possible prescription treatments like topical retinoids or antibiotics.

This approach balances treating oily, acne-prone zones while protecting drier skin areas, minimizing irritation and improving overall skin health.
