Talk to Dermatologist on Inflammation Around Nails And Pain

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Male, 26 Years old, Melbourne

I’ve had inflammation around both of my toenails from ingrown nails. I’ve been soaking them and trying home care, but I want to avoid full nail removal. Are there non-surgical options you can offer, like partial nail trimming, bracing, or topical treatments? Also, how can I manage or reverse the inflammation without making it worse?"

Avoid pointy and narrow shaped shoes. Avoid cutting the edges of the nail that are later embedded inside surrounding soft tissue of the nail. Keep your feet dry and clean (avoid long hours of closed shoe/socks). Use an anti bacterial cream such as fuskin or fudic cream twice daily for 7-8 days. For pain and inflammation you can soak feet in warm salt water for 10 min then pat dry them. Further u can take tab brufen 400mg or tab naprox/flexin (any one of them) morning night after meal for 3-5 days. Red online instructions about how to cut an ingrown nail and how to lift the edges using floss thread or tissue paper etc
