Talk to Dermatologist on Skin Around Ear Piercing Turned Dark

skin around the piercing done 3 years ago has turned dark, she wore silver studs which i then removed, some solid puss used to ooz out only when i tried to clean the area. but the puss is no more, no pain. its just that it has turned dark. what should i do? is it serious? its just in one ear. other is fine.

Could be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or contact dermatitis of the earring material. Metal stains is also a possibility. Depigmenting creams can be used for 6-8 weeks for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation but if it doesn’t improve chances are it is meta stains from silver earrings. Laser therapy may help with removing them.
