Talk to Endocrinologist on CAH Salt Wasting

person-avatar

Asking for Other, Male, 4 years old, Rawalpindi

My son is diagnosed with CAH salt wasting and he has this issue since he was born. Treatment is going on and he is doing good with that, but I am so worried about it in our entire family no one had these kind of issues before. They say he would have to take these medicines for the entire life and that is more terrifying. I want to know if this thing could be fully recovered at some point in his life? What about his life after marriage? Would his kids could have this issue as well?

Fixing the issue for life is a matter which needs careful evaluation. Congenital means at birth, and Salt-wasting CAH is the severe form of classic 21-hydroxylase deficiency. In this type of CAH, the adrenal glands make too little aldosterone, causing the body to be unable to retain enough sodium (salt). Kindly send me his reports so as to develop a protocol.

Thank you Doctor. His 17 oh progesterone level is high with high testosterone. There is nothing wrong with any other report so I wan to know what type of CAH is it because I heard there are many types of it. He also had hypospadias since birth as well.
