My mother has been a hypothyroid patient for the past 15 years and is on regular thyroxine treatment. She is obese with a BMI of 33, and her recent HbA1c is 6.1% . Her cholesterol and uric acid levels are normal. Can she start weekly semaglutide injections for weight loss and diabetes prevention, and what precautions, baseline tests, and starting dose should be considered before initiating treatment?
