Asking for Mother, Male, 53 years old, Karor lal esan
My mother (55 years old) has knee pain, burning sensation in both foot soles, weakness, and swelling in her hands, feet, and around the eyes.
Reports: • CBC: Hb 11.0 g/dL, RBC 6.6, MCV 59, MCH 17, MCHC 29 • Hb Electrophoresis: HbA 95.5%, HbA2 4.5% (Suggestive of Beta Thalassemia Trait) • TSH: 50.59 uIU/mL (high) • Creatinine: 0.62 mg/dL (normal) • Uric Acid: 4.2 mg/dL (normal)
She was prescribed Pregabalin 50mg for the burning sensation in her feet. After taking it at night, she developed noticeable swelling in her hands, feet, and around her eyes by the next morning.
Please review the reports and advise whether the swelling is due to Pregabalin or related to her thyroid condition, and what treatment or additional tests are required.
Thank you.
