Asking For Someone else, Brother, Male, 37 Years old, Islamabad
My brother underwent RYGB (Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass / bariatric double bypass surgery) even though his weight was around 103 kg and it was not medically critical. The surgery was done on a doctor’s recommendation, without detailed counseling or a second opinion.
After surgery, he has lost around 20–25 kg, but his overall health has significantly deteriorated. He is experiencing severe weakness, low energy, low motivation, and persistent issues with libido, testosterone levels, vitamin D deficiency, and other nutritional/hormonal deficiencies.
He now requires regular medications, supplements, and treatments just to function normally and perform daily work.
His doctors keep saying that this is “normal after bariatric surgery” and that going to the gym and exercising will fix things, but his condition is not improving meaningfully.

You are right, every treatment has some pros and cons, so proper patient education and counseling must be done before any procedure.
However, now focus should be on proper evaluation of current issues and corrections of deficiencies and psychological support.
