Talk to Ent Specialist on Child Tonsils Adenoids Problem

I am very worried. My son is 10 years old. He has had flu for the last 2 weeks. I was giving him anti-allergy medicine, but he did not get better. Today I took him to an ENT doctor. After examining him, the doctor said his tonsils and adenoids are enlarged, which has caused blockage of the Eustachian tube, and there is fluid in his right ear. The doctor feels there may be some hearing problem because of this. The doctor has prescribed an X-ray, audiometry, and tympanometry tests, which will be done tomorrow. I am very scared. Does treatment of tonsils and adenoids make it better?The doctor has only given a nasal spray and an anti-allergy medicine for now.
