Talk to Ent Specialist on INFECTION IN THROAT

Asking for Mother, Female, 53 years old, Karachi

Hello Doctor, I'll tell you a bit of history of my mother's. She has had very little sugar or blood pressure problems since she is very careful with her diet. She's also a vegetarian out of choice. Around 3 to 4 weeks ago, my mother had some severe congestion which got worse to one point where the phlegm blocked her windpipe and she couldn't breathe for a full minute. But that went away as she took her medicine But since a week now, she's developed an infection in her throat ( according to the ENT) and she cannot eat spicy food or sour foods. She's been taking painkiller injections at Darul Sehat Hospital but she says now she can hardly eat anything since it irritates her throat. Everything else is normal with her, no voice cracking or fever or anything. It's just an infection. What to do?

1. Yes, her first time since almost a decade.
2. No. since there's no phlegm.
3. She has had a lot of acidity problems from time to time but now her diet is limited to very mild or tasteless food like milk, bread, wheat biscuits, roti and some salted cooked vegetables like loki touri etc.
4. Her dental hygeine is good. She has regular checkups.
5. She's a housewife.
6. Never smoked. My father smokes but away from the house, so no exposure whatsoever.
