Asking for Other, Male, 6 years old, Rawalpindi

Assalamu alaykum. My son age 6 above now, was diagnosed with swollen tonsills and enlarged adenoids by x rays around 3 years ago. He had issue of nasal blockage during sleep and used to wake up suddenly at midnight. Later he was advised adenotonsillectomy. during next 2 years off and on he had severe infections chest blockage tonsils and adenoids. Fever and cough. WE almost became fully ready for surgery. But then one of our distant relative doctor whose son had same issues advised us to wait for couple of years and we followed her advice. Whenever weather changed he had cough and phlegm, he's asthmatic as well. So we did nebulisation with clenil single nebule without water. Alhamdulillah now he's become much better. Sleep is normal. Very little cough. Only issue is that he's too skinny and doesn't take meat. Shall we get him operated now or shall we wait further.

Waalaikum AsSalam. Based on your details it seems that your child before was having Adenoids and tonsil related issues that by increasing age has regressed. Anyways, if child's quality of life is good, sleeps normal with no snoring and waking up at midnight,. facial and dental growth is normal with no recurrent episodes of tonsiltis then yes there seems to be no need of to adeno-tonsillectomy. By am repeat x-ray of adenoids or an endoscopic exam adenoids status can be confirmed (enlarged or regressed), and for tonsil is a clinical diagnosis. So better to have a second opinion also. Hope this clarifies.
