Hello Doctor,
I would like to consult you regarding some symptoms that started approximately two weeks ago. I will provide the complete history in chronological order.
History of Present Illness:
Approximately two weeks ago, I smoked significantly more than usual. The following morning, I woke up with an unusual sensation in my throat/airway, as if something was stuck or mucus had accumulated there.
About a day later, I developed a persistent dry cough. My throat became significantly irritated, and even breathing in cold air seemed to trigger the irritation and coughing. At the same time, I started experiencing a feeling of heaviness and congestion in my chest/lungs.
I subsequently used some over-the-counter cough/expectorant syrups, including Pulmonol syrup. After using it, I was able to clear a considerable amount of mucus/phlegm, and the chest congestion and heaviness gradually improved. At present, I do not have the same level of chest or lung discomfort that I initially experienced.
After that, I also developed symptoms suggestive of post-nasal drip, with a sensation of mucus draining from my nose into my throat. This gradually improved over approximately one week. My nose is now completely clear, and I currently do not have significant nasal congestion, discharge, or a sensation of mucus draining into my throat.
Current Symptoms:
My main concern at the moment is persistent and significant throat irritation. I experience discomfort/pain in both the upper throat and the lower part of the throat, near where the throat ends.
I also continue to experience a mild feverish feeling/low-grade fever, which has not completely resolved.
Another persistent symptom is a significant change in my sense of taste. My mouth still does not taste normal compared with before these symptoms started.
Current Status:
- Nose: Clear; no significant post-nasal drip currently - Chest/lungs: Previous heaviness and congestion have largely resolved - Cough: Initially persistent a
Your should try to avoid the trigger first that is causing these symptoms. Then taking the right treatment will help you get better.
