Asking For Wife, Female 28, Karachi
Assalam u Alaikum,
My wife has a history of stomach pain, cramps, constipation sometimes blood in stool and also sentinel tags, which have been present for a long time (possibly due to an old/chronic fissure). About 4 months ago, she had an active fissure that healed with antibiotics and stool softeners. After that, she felt some stretching under the skin in the anal region.
Currently, the MRI shows a simple, superficial fistula-in-ano (~16mm at 7 o’clock) with no involvement of the external sphincter, possibly a sinus tract or fistula. It may have developed following the fissure she had. The surgeon has prescribed fistulotomy as the only solution.
I would like to know:
1 Will fistulotomy alone treat the fistula, and will the surgeon also address the sentinel tags and any old fissure tissue during the procedure?
2 Could you suggest female general surgeon experienced in gut and perianal issues?
JazakAllahu Khair.
