Asking for Father, Male, 64 years old, Lahore
Hello, My father had undergone total Laryngectomy 2 years ago. He is doing fine MashAllah. Just a few days ago an insect went through his stoma. Today he coughed and that insect came out dead. He had 103 degree fever yesterday and it's 102 degrees today. I am very worried and need to have some advice on it please. How dangerous is it when an insect enters through a stoma? How long can it stay there and can it cause an infection? What tests should we go through? Also, he had total Laryngectomy due to cancer that was effectively removed. Now I also need to do follow up tests to see that it has not re-occurred or anything, can you please advice what tests shall we go through?

So CBC, CHEST X RAY,CRP levels should b done

Should staart short course of antibiotics.
Co amoxiclave 1gm twice a day 5 days.
Tap posterior and cough out if any sputum production.or do suction from tracheostomy if its still there.
Nothing seems to worry yet.tell response aftr 5 days.
