person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 30 years old, Multan

Hi Respected Doctor. I want to inquire about COVID19 Antibodies. I had Covid19 in July of 2020 i.e. last year. I got my antibodies checked on 8th of April 2021, the value came out to be 19.31 while normal value is 1. My question is, are these antibodies level sufficient for preventing future reinfections as I am with my sister and she is suspected COVID positive right now. I have to take of her and I am wearing mask around her taking every precaution I can. best regards.

Covid antibodies levels are no means to confirm your immunity against new infections, best approach is to get vaccinated and continue precautions, in your case if you are dealing with covid patient, patient isolation, use properly covered mask, ensure hand hygiene etc

There are different variants of Covid, whereas you have developed antibodies against one variant therefore it’s necessary you take all necessary precautions and get yourself vaccinated and avoid unnecessary exposure PlZ

immune system fights on different fronts wd diff tools. antibodies are not only tools. similarly viruses uses diff mechanisms to evade immune system.... the safest approach is to vaccinate when u dnt hav active infection and also follow sops even after vaccination.
