It sounds like your cough is a classic symptom of reflux. Make sure you’re taking your GERD medication exactly as prescribed and try to keep the head of your bed raised about 6–8 inches. Avoid eating large meals or lying down within two to three hours after dinner, and steer clear of foods that trigger reflux such as spicy, fatty or acidic items. If the cough persists, a short‑term cough suppressant or an H2 blocker can help calm the throat. If it still bothers you after a week of these changes, it’s worth seeing a clinician to rule out other causes like post‑nasal drip or a mild airway irritation. In the meantime, stay hydrated and keep your throat moist with a humidifier.
