Talk to General Physician on Wondering What Device Would Be Best For Our Clinic For Single Lead EKG Testing

person-avatar

Asking for Other, Female, 30 years old, Eugene, Oregon, United States

(The patient information I listed above is just an example of a common demographic we see in our patients. )

I am the Medical Director for an Opioid Treatment Program. We treat patients with methadone, and we do routine single lead EKGs at doses of 100 mg and 200 mg to screen for Long QT Syndrome.

We are having a difficult time with our EKG devices. Often they provide tracings with excessive artifact, making it impossible to discern any T waves. So we then cannot measure the QT interval and we have to repeat the EKG. Often patients repeat these 3-5 times without a useful tracing.

We have tried the Kardia EKG app with iPads. We have also tried the EMAY device.

We prefer single lead EKGs and we think that a budget of $100-250 per device would be reasonable.

Do you have any advice about which devices are of the best quality within this price range?

Thank you!

Given your budget and the need for reliable single-lead EKG devices, here the 2 options you might consider:

1. AliveCor KardiaMobile While you mentioned you've tried the Kardia EKG app with iPads, using the KardiaMobile device itself might provide better results. It's compact, FDA-cleared, and widely used for single-lead EKG monitoring. The cost typically falls within your budget range.

2.BodiMetrics Performance Monitor This is another FDA-cleared device that offers single-lead EKG monitoring. It's compact, portable, and falls within your budget range. It's designed for easy use and might provide more consistent tracings compared to what you've experienced.

Before making a decision, you might want to check reviews from other healthcare professionals who have used these devices in similar settings to see which one might best suit your needs and provide more reliable results.
Thanks.
