Talk to General Practitioner on Question About Body Dysmorphia

Asking for Self, Female, 23 years old, Dubai

The DSM defines BDD in part as a preoccupation with an imagined or a slight defect. I was wondering whether someone who has a preoccupation with a severe defect, not a slight one, would also fall under the umbrella of BDD.

Hello. No it doesn't come under the definition of BDD as you actually have a physical condition according to you. However if it is affecting your quality of life I would suggest you to consult a psychologist who cab help you cope up with it. Well wishes for you.
