Talk to General Surgeon on Post-Surgery Wound Assessment

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 22 years old, Lahore

Dear Doctors,

I underwent an open excision surgery for a pilonidal sinus on 18 June 2026 at 10:30 PM. The attached picture was taken during dressing on 24 June 2026, approximately 6 days after surgery.

I would appreciate your professional opinion on the following:

1. Does the wound appearance look normal for postoperative day 6? 2. Does the surgery appear to have been performed appropriately based on the wound appearance? 3. Approximately how long might this wound take to heal completely if recovery continues normally? 4. Are there any signs in the picture that suggest concern for infection or delayed healing? 5. Are there any recommendations regarding dressing, sitting position, activity level, or diet that could improve healing?

Thank you for your valuable guidance.
