l had loop ileostomy due to intestinal perforations. My skin under a stoma bag is causing irritation. And skin around and near the stoma is reddish and causing a strong sense of discomfort due to output from stoma. how much time should I give to stoma without stoma bag. and how to handle discharge without bag. kindly Suggest and remedy for this.
03 months from the date of surgery. time can be reduced depending upon the cause of perforations. If the surrounding skin is inlammed please take jn clinic consultation. u can also apply zinc oxide paste on red area after cleaning it properly
it is common complication of ileostomy known as skin excoriation. it can be prevented by cutting stoma bag just the size of stoma. Now you can apply a paste of zinc oxide and syrup mucaine and apply it like a thick paste on the affected skin so that contents of stoma do not come into contact with affected skin. Repeat this for a week. it will get better.

Intestinal perforations was due to tuberculosis.
It is very difficult to apply Mixture of zinc oxide and mucain because output from stoma is not going to be stopped after removing the bag.
My stoma shape is not circular and it is just 3-4 mm outside of my belly skin. How can I cut stoma bag perfect to size.
As it's loop ileostomy, output from stoma mostly in liquid form and touches with surrounding skin.
How can i prevent liquid from touching my skin.

you need to proper care for stoma don't let fluid touch your skin. if it's been 6weeks and the cause was not tuberculosis then it can be reversed. please consult your general surgeon

There are diferent types of stoma bags... Please buy the one with abdominal belt.. it doesnt need to be adhered with skin.. as it has foam that is in contact with skin.. it'll prevent skin excoriation.. in the meanwhile, please continue you anti-tuberculous therapy
