my baby is 18 days old. i had normal delivery.she was put on feeder after an hour of birth. now the issue is she isnt taking my feed and even dnt want to suck on nipples. i am not producing enough since first day. i use pump but all i can express is 2 sips. i have tried every thing totka etc to produce feed but nothing is working. can someone help what is the issue any hormonal problem or some thing? Any test which can rule out the cause. i had epidural is it because of that? plz help desperately looking for some solution.
- well come and thanks for preffering Marham for your health Consultation.
- Dear breast milk production is different in individuals actually .few ladies can feed up till 18 months where as other unable to feed just after birth .
- have lots of milk , daily walk and mild exercise for balanced Bmi and subsequently I balanced weight .
-try to feed baby ,sucking by nipples stimulated milk excretion so leg him/ her suck.
- have prolectin level if u want to check hormonal involvement in feeding process.
- don't be disappointed if unable to feed as few ladies can't due to Hormonal ,physical and genetic effects.
- most helpful try actually after birth in first week if not tried properly then difficult to get as body shifts towards normal cyclic hormones if unable to produce milk and not having nipple sucking by baby .
- I hope things would be better .
- best of Luck.

No dear it's not due to Epidural .can get genetics ,hormonal ,physiological etc.
- u can have Domperidone ( motilium ) for milk production support but not necessarily will! have same effects as natural production of Milk . Metoclopramide also used but having more side effects and Major one is depression.
- u can have tab motilium 10 mgs twice a day .
- but continue to feed Baby and do put on both sides for nursing and reduce and then stop bottle feeding if possible as now difficult as baby have habit of bottle feed.
- properly empty breast regularly to increase milk production.
- best of luck.
