Talk to Gynecologist on Breast Milk Has Become Salty

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female 36, karachi

I am a working mother. Delivered a baby 9 months earlier. Baby has been both on formula feed and breast feed(nights only or days on the holidays). Milk supply was never sufficient so after breast feed baby used to take some formula feed also. Now for the past 02 months baby has almost stopped taking breast . He is infact resisting and rejecting it. Starts crying if breast is offered for feed. I waited for few days considering it may be his mood or so but no improvement. Then when checked the breast milk it has become salty in both breasts and supply is also limited. I want to continue breast feeding but don't know why milk has become salty it used to be sweeter earlier. Also how to make baby accept breast feed and how to increase supply. Pls advise. Thank you.

Also please note that I don't have any redness, pain itching or any other issue with the breasts.

Aoa it is very common problem among working women when we increase interval between breast feeding this automatically leads to decrease milk production as milk supply is related to nipple stimulation and hormonal release by baby and when baby gets used to plastic nipple that is convenient for him to feed they start getting fussy on breast and reject breast because they have to do extra effort to suck. All you can do is take plenty of fluids.u can manually suck milk by breast pump.
give him in bottle .
and keep trying to offer breast feed
if it doesnt help we can use medication to help too.

Thank you doctor. Does lack of breast milk suction makes the milk salty? Should I give it to the baby safe for him?

I does happen with working women.
Itis also called nipple confusion.
Try to express your milk manually and give it to him via bottle.
Take water , juices etc.
Report after 15 days
