preterm delivery has multiple causes
cervical incompetency causes second trimester painless losses.
you need to be evaluated properly by history for this 7 month delivery.
any history of vaginal discharge,bleeding,pain,urinary symptoms?

If it was painless delivery only then you may need it after cerival length assessment on ultrasound during next pregnancy, otherwise not.

Ultrasound scan is done during pregnancy to assess length and then it's decided whether patient need stitch or not. It's also important to rule out urinary infection. Urinary infection could be a reason for preterm delivery.
