Asking For Self, Female 29, lahore
Hello! My question is related to maternal fetal medicine specialist or any genetic counselor who can understand my problem with my both boys! They both are born iugr diagnosed after 30 weeks! 1 born with 2.5kg and other 2kg! They didn't need NICU and not any complications at birth! But later diagnosed microcephaly and congenital cataracts! Now where is the problem that should be pointed out to prevent it in other pregnancies or is it treatable? Are both problems hereditary or due to torch infections as I done it with my 2nd baby only and he had cmv igg and rubella igg reactive! What diagnosis should be done? I need a detailed answer please!

IgG shows immunity...
CMV and Rubella r treatable completely outside pregnancy-thts why v hv now pre-pregnancy councelling and evaluation clinics fr spot diagnosis and u shud again do her TORCH treatment if they r b due to pregnancy the tests were false positive for IgG as both the babies r affected...i m suggesting so i may b always do anomaly scan in pregnancy at prescribed time frm a reliable sonographer...
good luck

I always done anomalous scan at 18 weeks and at 26 weeks ! they were completely normal! it happened when I did a scan at 31 weeks which showed growth restriction ! it happened same with both of my babies! their doppler values get increased after 30 weeks! why it happens? and increased flow in umbilical arteries

if they were IUGR and then microcephalic now then this happened during pregnancy-wt type of IUGR it was?symmetrical or asymmetrical-both hv their own underlying pathologies-one thing u can do is in future pregnancies to opt fr choriocentesis and amniocentesis-hopefully if done carefully ll giv a clue about the developing babies and the ensuing pregnancies-i m nt sure about any good and vigilant feto-maternal center here but US UK India Malaysia r far ahead-

I think they're symmetrical because they are overall small for their age! their head circumference is also small as their bodies are! should I done karyotyping test too? and if it's due to infections , can it be repeatedly transmitted in next pregnancies?
